In the modern urban developments of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Jet Fan Induction systems (also known as Impulse fans) have largely replaced traditional ducted ventilation. Instead of relying on bulky, horizontal galvanized steel ducting to "suck" air out, this system uses high-velocity thrust to "induce" air movement across the entire carpark floor. This creates a "virtual duct" that manages Carbon Monoxide (CO) daily and performs critical Smoke Spill extraction during emergencies.
EKG M&E Sdn Bhd specializes in the engineering and BOMBA certification of these ductless systems, ensuring your facility adheres to MS 1780 and the latest EECA 2024 energy standards.
Traditional systems move air using static pressure within a pipe. Induction systems move air through Momentum Transfer.
Each jet fan discharges a small volume of air at a very high velocity (typically 20m/s to 30m/s). This high-speed "jet" creates a low-pressure zone around the fan, which "induces" the surrounding stagnant air to join the flow.
Massive Air Movement: A single jet fan can move up to 10 to 15 times its primary airflow through this induction effect.
Vector Alignment: We design the system so the "throw" of one fan reaches the intake of the next, creating a continuous stream toward the main extraction shaft.
Because there are no physical ducts to guide the air, the design relies entirely on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling.
Dead Zone Eradication: We model the specific structural reality of your basement—including deep beams, ramps, and columns—to ensure no pockets of toxic CO or smoke can accumulate.
3D BIM Coordination: We utilize 3D modeling to ensure jet fans have a clear "line of sight." Obstructions like large signage or cable trays can break the induction flow, rendering the system ineffective.
As a specialized M&E contractor, EKG ensures your jet fan system supports building sustainability:
TNB Energy Efficiency (Zonal Control): Jet fan systems allow for Zonal Demand Control. By linking CO sensors to groups of fans via Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), we activate only the fans in the area where a car is actually running. This significantly reduces your monthly TNB electricity bill compared to running a central fan for the entire floor.
EECA 2024 & Building Energy Index (BEI): Under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2024, mechanical air transport must be optimized. By eliminating the friction and static pressure losses of hundreds of meters of ducting, the main extraction fans can operate at much lower power levels.
Maximum Headroom: By removing horizontal ducting, we often gain 300mm to 500mm of additional vertical clearance. This is a critical selling point for luxury developments in KL, allowing access for higher-clearance SUVs and delivery vans.
Turnkey BOMBA Submission: We manage the full certification process, including the mandatory Hot Smoke Tests required for your annual Fire Certificate (FC) renewal to prove the induction system manages smoke effectively.
Precision Commissioning: We don't just install; we balance. We perform precise Airflow Traverse and Vector Alignment to ensure the real-world performance matches the CFD design.
Strategic Regional Support: Based in Kuala Lumpur, we provide professional audits and technical proposals for shopping malls, Grade-A office towers, and luxury residential podiums.
