Primary prevention of cardiovascular events in high-risk adults
Adult dosing: Typically begin with 10 /mg once daily, but may start at 20 /mg once daily in patients with high LDL-C or familial hypercholesterolemia. Maximum dose 40 /mg/day if needed
For those at risk (e.g., Asian descent, renal impairment, myopathy), a 5 /mg starting dose may be considered; dose escalation should occur at ≥4-week intervals based on LDL C response
Taken with or without food, swallow whole; routine monitoring of liver function and CK levels is recommended. Contraindicated in active liver disease, pregnancy, lactation, and patients with rosuvastatin hypersensitivity
