Nippon Paint Acrylic 5170 Wall Sealer is a high-performance, solvent-based vinyl acrylate sealer specifically formulated for interior and exterior masonry surfaces. It is uniquely engineered to provide excellent protection against high alkalinity and moisture, making it the ideal choice for new walls or surfaces where efflorescence (white powdery salt deposits) is a concern. Its superior penetrative properties allow it to bind deeply into the substrate, creating a strong anchor for topcoats. This sealer is particularly effective for "chalky" or old painted surfaces, ensuring long-lasting adhesion and preventing the topcoat from peeling or flaking.
Paint Type: Solvent-based (Vinyl Acrylate)
Finishing: Matt
Color: White

Thinning: Ready for use. If required, dilute with maximum 5% Nippon General Purpose Thinner.
Touch Dry: 15 minutes (depending on temperature and humidity)
Hard Dry: 1 hour
Recoating Interval: Minimum 2 hours
Theoretical Coverage: 8 – 10 m² per litre per coat (Subject to surface porosity)
Shelf Life: Up to 36 months in a tightly sealed container
Mixing: Stir the sealer thoroughly before use to ensure a uniform consistency.
Application Method: Apply using a high-quality Brush, Roller, or Conventional/Airless Spray.
Dilution: Ready for use. For very porous or chalky surfaces, no thinning is recommended to ensure maximum binding strength.
Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment with Nippon General Purpose Thinner immediately after use.
Note: Ensure the workspace is well-ventilated during application due to the solvent-based nature of the product.
For New or Old Masonry Surfaces:
Sealer/Primer (1 Coat): Acrylic 5170 Wall Sealer.
Topcoat (2 Coats): Weatherbond / Weatherbond Solareflect / Odour-less AirCare / Spot-less Plus (Compatible with most Nippon Paint water-based topcoats).
General Cleaning: Surfaces must be structurally sound, dry, clean, and free from dirt, grease, oil, and loose matter.
Chalky Surfaces: For old painted walls that are powdery (chalking), use a high-pressure water jet or wire brush to remove as much loose material as possible before sealing.
Moisture & Alkalinity: Ensure the substrate is dry. For new walls, allow a curing period of at least 28 days. Moisture content should be below 16% and alkalinity below pH 9.
Biological Treatment: Treat areas affected by fungus or algae with Nippon Paint Fungicidal Wash and rinse thoroughly before application.
Repair: Fill cracks and surface defects with a suitable exterior or interior filler before applying the sealer.
