Kitchen emissions are a complex mix of solid particles, liquid droplets (grease mist), and condensed vapors.
These are larger particles, typically heavy grease and soot, that are usually captured by standard Grease Baffle Filters or high-efficiency pre-filters.
The Risk: If PM10 levels are high at the discharge point, it indicates a failure in your primary filtration, leading to heavy "grease rain" on the rooftop.
These sub-micron particles (smoke) are the most difficult to capture. They penetrate deep into the lungs and travel long distances in the KL breeze.
The Solution: Only a well-calibrated Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) or a HEPA-stage can effectively neutralize PM2.5. We test the efficiency of your ESP cells to ensure they are ionizing these microscopic particles.

Inlet vs. Outlet Efficiency Testing:
We measure the PM concentration before it enters the Ecology Unit and after it leaves the discharge louvers. A compliant system should show a reduction of 90% to 99%.
Static Pressure Correlation:
PM levels are often tied to airflow velocity. We perform a Duct Traverse and Static Pressure Audit to ensure the air isn't moving too fast through the Activated Carbon or ESP cells, which would cause "Blow-through" where particles don't have enough "dwell time" to be captured.
VFD Optimization:
If PM levels are high, we check the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) settings. Sometimes the fan is running too fast for the filters to be effective, or too slow to provide enough suction at the hood. We tune the VFD to the "Sweet Spot" of capture efficiency versus energy use.
Testing the exhaust stack is only half the job. We also test for Air Migration within your facility.
Positive Pressure Validation:
If your kitchen is under "Negative Pressure," it may be sucking in humid KL air, which causes PM to clump and clog filters prematurely. We calibrate your Kitchen Make-up Air (MUA) to maintain a slight Positive Pressure in the dining area, ensuring all PM is physically forced into the exhaust hoods and through the filtration stack.
