Low-Energy Heat Recovery Compliance | Sustainable Ventilation by EKG (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd

In the regulatory landscape of 2026, "compliance" has shifted from a voluntary green goal to a legal mandate. Under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2026, commercial and industrial buildings in Malaysia must demonstrate significant reductions in energy intensity. Since outdoor air intake is the largest thermal load on a tropical HVAC system, Low-Energy Heat Recovery is the primary mechanism for meeting the mandatory 10 l/s per person fresh air rate without exceeding energy consumption limits.

At EKG M&E, we provide a technical pathway to compliance—integrating high-efficiency recovery cores with smart motor controls to satisfy DOSH ICOP IAQ and Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements.

1. Thermal Recovery & The EECA Framework

The EECA 2026 focuses on the "Energy Intensity" of a building. Bringing in 32°C fresh air and cooling it to 24°C using raw chiller power is no longer compliant for large-scale facilities.

2. VFD Optimization & The Cube Law

To meet low-energy compliance, fan motors must not run at a fixed speed. We utilize Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) as the primary energy-saving tool:

3. IAQ Standards & Biological Safety

Compliance isn't just about energy; it’s about the health of the occupants under the DOSH ICOP IAQ 2026 standards:

4. Mechanical Health: FFT Vibration Analysis

A compliant system must be a reliable system. To prevent unexpected shutdowns that would lead to IAQ violations, we employ Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) Analysis:
