Multi-Zone HRV Configuration | Precision Airflow Solutions by EKG (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd

In large-scale commercial offices and industrial facilities, a "one-size-fits-all" ventilation approach is an energy drain. Different areas—such as high-density meeting rooms, quiet open-plan offices, and specialized server rooms—have vastly different fresh air requirements. A Multi-Zone HRV Configuration allows a single central Heat Recovery Ventilation unit to serve multiple distinct areas, each with its own demand profile, to meet the 10 l/s per person mandate of the 2026 DOSH ICOP IAQ standards.

At EKG M&E, we design and install networked zoning systems that utilize intelligent dampers and sensors to ensure every square foot of your facility is ventilated only as much as necessary.

1. VAV and Motorized Damper Integration

The backbone of a multi-zone system is the Variable Air Volume (VAV) terminal. Instead of a static duct, we use smart actuators to control the flow to each zone:

2. VFD Optimization & The Cube Law

A multi-zone system is only efficient if the central fan can react to the sum of the dampers. We utilize Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) as the primary energy-saving engine:

3. Thermal Recovery & Humidity Management

Multi-zoning requires careful management of the thermal exchange core to prevent "short-cycling" or condensation issues in Malaysia's humidity:

4. Mechanical Health: FFT Vibration Analysis

Multi-zone systems often involve complex ductwork that can be prone to turbulence. To ensure structural integrity, we employ Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) Analysis:
