74LS368 Instructions

Description

The 74LS368 is a high-speed TTL (Transistor-Transistor Logic) octal bus transceiver with three-state outputs. It is used to transfer data between two buses or between a bus and other logic circuits. The device has eight data lines (D1 to D8) that can be transmitted in either direction based on the control inputs.

Pin Configuration

Pin Number Pin Name Description
1 A1 Data Input/Output 1
2 A2 Data Input/Output 2
3 A3 Data Input/Output 3
4 A4 Data Input/Output 4
5 A5 Data Input/Output 5
6 A6 Data Input/Output 6
7 A7 Data Input/Output 7
8 GND Ground
9 B1 Data Input/Output 8
10 B2 Data Input/Output 9
11 B3 Data Input/Output 10
12 B4 Data Input/Output 11
13 B5 Data Input/Output 12
14 B6 Data Input/Output 13
15 B7 Data Input/Output 14
16 B8 Data Input/Output 15
17 OE Output Enable (Active Low)
18 DIR Direction Control (Active High)
19 VCC Power Supply
20 NC No Connect

Operation

  1. Direction Control (DIR):

    • When DIR is high, data is transmitted from the A side to the B side.
    • When DIR is low, data is transmitted from the B side to the A side.
  2. Output Enable (OE):

    • When OE is low, the outputs are enabled and the data is transmitted according to the direction set by DIR.
    • When OE is high, all outputs are in a high-impedance state (three-state), effectively disconnecting them from the bus.
  3. Power Supply:

    • Connect VCC to +5V and GND to ground.
  4. Data Transfer:

    • Connect the data lines (A1 to A8 and B1 to B8) to the appropriate input/output devices or buses.
    • Ensure that the control signals (DIR and OE) are properly configured to enable the desired data transfer direction and output state.
