PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Nippon Paint Acrylic 5170 Wall Sealer is a premium vinyl acrylate solvent-based sealer specifically engineered to provide maximum protection for interior and exterior masonry surfaces. Designed to act as a high-performance primer, it penetrates deeply into substrates to create a solid foundation for topcoats. This sealer is the ultimate solution for "problem" walls, offering exceptional resistance against alkalinity and moisture while ensuring a flawless, long-lasting paint finish.

 

Technical Data

1. Paint Type: Solvent-based (Vinyl Acrylate).

2. Finishing: Low sheen / Matt (White).

3. Drying Time: Touch Dry in 15–20 minutes; Hard Dry in 2 hours (depending on temperature and humidity).

4. Recoating Interval: Minimum 2 hours.

5. Theoretical Coverage: 8 – 10 m² per litre per coat (actual coverage varies based on substrate porosity).

6. Volume Solids: Approximately 58%.

7. Shelf Life: Up to 36 months in a tightly sealed container under cool, dry conditions.

 

Application Instruction

• Application Method: Can be applied using a brush, roller, or spray. Ensure thorough stirring before use.

• Thinning: * Brush/Roller: Ready for use; if necessary, dilute with a maximum of 5% Nippon Acrylic 3000 Thinner.

  • Conventional Air Spray: Dilute with 10% – 15% Nippon Acrylic 3000 Thinner.

     

• Cleaning: All equipment must be cleaned immediately after use with Nippon Acrylic 3000 Thinner or a suitable solvent-based reducer

 

Recommended Coating System

• Standard System: * Sealer (1 Coat): Acrylic 5170 Wall Sealer.

  • Topcoat (2 Coats): Nippon Paint Interior or Exterior Emulsion products (e.g., Weatherbond, Satin Glo, or EasyWash).

• Textured System:

  • Sealer (1 Coat): Acrylic 5170 Wall Sealer.

  • Textured Coat (1 Coat): Tilelac Ema Base.

  • Topcoat (2 Coats): Acrylic Finish / Polyurethane Finish / Weatherbond.

 

Surface Preparation

1. Cleanliness: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from all defective or poorly adhering material like dirt, grease, wax, or loose chalk.
2. Moisture & Alkalinity Check: Ensure wall moisture content is below 16% (measured by protimeter) and alkalinity is below pH 9 before application.

3. Treatment of Infestations: Any area affected by fungus or algae must be treated with Nippon Fungicidal Wash and allowed to dry completely.

4. Repair & Patching: Fill cracks and uneven surfaces with a suitable exterior-grade putty or filler. Smoothen the area with sandpaper once dry.

5. Chalky Surfaces: For old, powdery, or chalky surfaces, use a high-pressure water jet to remove unstable paint films before applying the sealer to ensure deep penetration and adhesion.
