PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

8100 Weatherbond® Sealer is a latex-rich styrene acrylic water-based sealer specially formulated to provide the ultimate protection for finishing coats on exterior surfaces. It features excellent hiding power, which promotes a richer and more vibrant color appearance for the topcoat. This premium sealer is engineered to offer superior resistance against alkalinity and efflorescence, which are common causes of paint discoloration and chalking on exterior walls. Additionally, it provides excellent adhesion, water resistance, and spattering resistance, making it an ideal choice for both new masonry walls and repainting projects. Its ultra-low odor and low VOC formulation also make it an eco-friendly "Green Choice" product.

Application Instructions

• Application Method: Apply using a high-quality Brush or Roller.

• Dilution: Ready for use. If thinning is required for workability, dilute with no more than 5% water.

• Cleaning: Clean all painting equipment with clean water immediately after use.

• Note: Ensure the surface is properly prepared and dry before application. Water-based topcoats should be used with this water-based sealer for optimum results.

Recommended Coating System

• Sealer/Primer (1 Coat): 8100 Weatherbond Sealer.

• Topcoat (2 Coats): Nippon Paint Exterior Products (e.g., Weatherbond Ultimate, Weatherbond Quartz, or Weatherbond Solareflect Extreme).

• For Textured Finishes: 1 coat of 8100 Weatherbond Sealer, followed by 1 coat of Tilelac Ema Base (intermediate), and finished with 2 coats of Nippon Paint Exterior Topcoat.

Surface Preparation

• General Cleaning: Surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from dirt, grease, oil, and other foreign matters.

• Defect Removal: Remove all loose, defective paint, powdery residues, loose chalk, dust, fungus, and algae by scraping or high-pressure water jetting.

• Biological Treatment: Treat areas affected by fungus or algae growth with a suitable fungicidal wash solution.

• Repair: Repair cracks and uneven surfaces with Nippon CrackREPAIR 1000 Compound or suitable exterior-grade fillers. Smoothen the repaired areas with sandpaper.

• Moisture & Alkalinity: Ensure wall moisture content is below 16% (protimeter) and alkalinity is below pH 9 before application. New walls should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days.

• Spot Priming: Spot prime any repaired or bare areas with 8100 Weatherbond Sealer.
