Nippon Paint Tilelac EMA Base is a high-performance, water-based intermediate textured coating designed to provide a decorative and protective finish for exterior and interior masonry surfaces. It is primarily used as a "base" or "intermediate" layer to create various textured patterns, such as the popular "head-cut" or "orange peel" effects. Formulated with a specific acrylic emulsion, it offers excellent durability, weather resistance, and alkalinity resistance. This product is ideal for hiding surface imperfections and providing a robust, thick film that enhances the architectural character of buildings. It must be overcoated with a suitable finishing paint to provide the final color and maximum environmental protection.
Paint Type: Water-based (Intermediate/Base)
Finishing: Textured (Patterns vary by application tool)
Binder: Acrylic Emulsion
Thinning: Ready for use. If necessary, dilute with maximum 2% clean water (Excessive thinning will affect texture).
Touch Dry: 1 – 2 hours (depending on temperature and humidity)
Hard Dry: 24 hours
Recoating Interval: Minimum 24 hours (Ensure the texture is fully cured)
Theoretical Coverage: 0.5 – 1.5 kg per m² (Coverage varies significantly based on texture pattern and thickness)
No. of Coats: 1 coat
Shelf Life: Up to 24 months in a tightly sealed container
Application Method: Apply using a Textured Roller (for orange peel) or Spray Gun (for head-cut pattern). For "head-cut" finishes, use a plastic or metal roller to flatten the peaks after spraying.
Dilution: Ready for use after thorough stirring. Add a very small amount of water (max 2%) only if the material is too thick to work with.
Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment with clean water immediately after use.
Note: Consistency is key for a uniform texture. Ensure the same application technique and pressure are maintained throughout the project.
Sealer/Primer (1 Coat): 5100 Wall Sealer / 8100 Weatherbond Sealer.
Intermediate/Texture (1 Coat): Tilelac EMA Base.
Topcoat (2 Coats): Nippon Paint Premium Exterior Products (e.g., Weatherbond, Weatherbond Solareflect, or PU Recoatable Finish).
General Cleaning: Surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from dirt, grease, oil, and loose matter.
Defect Removal: Remove all loose or defective paint, powdery residues, and dust by scraping or high-pressure water jetting.
Biological Treatment: Treat areas affected by fungus or algae growth with a suitable fungicidal wash solution.
Repair: Fill cracks and holes with suitable exterior-grade fillers and sand smooth before applying the sealer.
Conditioning: For new walls, ensure the surface has cured for at least 28 days. Moisture content must be below 16% and alkalinity below pH 9.
