Nippon Paint Fungicidal Wash is a high-efficiency, water-based sterilization solution specifically formulated to treat and prevent the growth of fungus, algae, and mold on various substrates. It is a vital pre-treatment step for exterior and interior masonry, brickwork, and timber surfaces that have been affected by biological growth. Unlike simple washing with water, this specialized solution penetrates the surface to kill spores at the root, ensuring that new paint films do not fail prematurely due to underlying fungal infestation. It is easy to apply, environmentally friendly, and essential for maintaining the long-term aesthetic and structural integrity of painted surfaces in humid climates.
Paint Type: Water-based (Sterilization Liquid)
Finishing: Clear / Transparent
Binder: Biocidal Chemical Solution
Color: Colorless
Thinning: Ready for use (Dilution is not recommended)
Touch Dry: Not applicable (Evaporation based)
Drying Time: 2 – 4 hours (depending on weather conditions)
Theoretical Coverage: 10 – 12 m² per litre (depending on surface porosity)
Shelf Life: Up to 24 months in original unopened containers
Application Method: Apply using a Brush, Roller, or Low-pressure Spray.
Method: Apply the solution liberally onto the affected area. Ensure the surface is thoroughly saturated to allow the biocides to penetrate.
Reaction Time: Leave the solution on the surface for at least 24 hours to allow it to effectively kill the fungus and spores.
Rinsing: After the reaction period, scrub the surface with a stiff brush and rinse thoroughly with clean water or a high-pressure water jet to remove dead growth.
Cleaning: Wash all application tools with clean water immediately after use.
Safety: Wear protective gloves and eyewear during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Treatment (1 Coat): Fungicidal Wash (Apply, leave for 24 hours, and rinse).
Sealer/Primer (1 Coat): 5100 Wall Sealer (Exterior) or 8100 Weatherbond Sealer.
Topcoat (2 Coats): Nippon Weatherbond / Weatherbond Solareflect / Spot-less Plus.
Initial Cleaning: Before applying the Fungicidal Wash, remove heavy layers of biological growth, moss, or lichen manually using a scraper or stiff brush.
Dryness: The surface should be relatively dry to allow the wash to be absorbed into the substrate. Do not apply during rain.
Debris Removal: Ensure the area is free from loose dirt and dust to allow maximum contact between the solution and the infected surface.
Post-Treatment: Ensure the surface is completely dry after the final rinse before proceeding with the sealer or primer coat. Trapped moisture can lead to future bubbling or peeling.
