Nippon Paint Aqua Epoxy is a high-performance, two-component water-based polyamide amine adduct cured epoxy coating. Specifically engineered for the protection and decoration of internal masonry surfaces, it is ideal for cement or concrete floors, walls, and even glazed tiles when used with an appropriate primer.
Paint Type: Two-pack Water-based Epoxy
Finishing: Gloss / Soft Matt (depending on selected version)
Color: Available in a wide range of colors (refer to color card)
Mixing Ratio: 4 parts Base to 1 part Hardener (by volume)
Pot Life: 1 hour at 30°C after mixing
Touch Dry: 2 – 4 hours (depending on temperature and humidity)
Hard Dry: 8 hours
Recoating Interval: Minimum 12 hours
Theoretical Coverage: 10 m² per litre per coat (at 50 microns DFT) 6.3 m² per litre per coat (at 80 microns DFT)
No. of Coats: 2 to 3 coats
Shelf Life: Up to 24 months in a tightly sealed container
Application Method: Apply using a Brush, Roller (short-nap mohair recommended), or Conventional Air Spray.
Mixing: Stir the Base component first. Gradually add the total contents of the Hardener component into the Base while continuing to stir. Use a mechanical stirrer (300–500 rpm) for 2–3 minutes until a completely homogeneous mix is achieved.
Conventional Spray: Thin with 25% – 30% clean water.
Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment with clean water immediately after use.
Curing: Full cure is achieved after 7 days. Avoid heavy traffic or chemical exposure during this period.
For Glazed Tiles: Tile Primer or Hycote 51WT.
For Internal Walls: 5200 Interior Sealer or Aqua Epoxy (thinned 10%).
Topcoat (2-3 Coats): Nippon Paint Aqua Epoxy.
Note: For non-slip requirements, incorporate Nippon Non-Skid Silica into the final coat.
General Cleaning: Surfaces must be structurally sound, dry, and free from oil, grease, dirt, and loose contaminants.
New Concrete: Must be cured for at least 28 days.
Laitance Removal: Remove concrete laitance and curing compounds via light grinding or captive shot blasting to ensure a porous surface for maximum adhesion.
Previously Painted Surfaces: Remove all unstable paint film and loose chalk. Abrade the surface with sandpaper to provide a mechanical key before applying the primer.
