In the dense urban environment of KL and Selangor, air naturally becomes stagnant, humid, and laden with CO2. Mechanical Air Circulation is the M&E process of using fans, ductwork, and control systems to forcefully move air through a building. At EKG M&E Sdn Bhd, we design these systems to ensure that "dead zones" are eliminated, and that every occupant receives a continuous flow of treated air. As an HVAC and Clean Air Specialist, we focus on balancing "Supply," "Return," and "Exhaust" to create a healthy indoor climate.
To achieve a comfortable building environment, we manage three distinct directions of airflow:
This is the "fresh" or "cooled" air being pushed into the room.
PAHU and AHU Integration: We use Primary Air Handling Units (PAHU) to pre-cool the outdoor air, ensuring the circulation doesn't introduce 32°C Malaysian heat into your office.
Diffuser Placement: We strategically place ceiling diffusers to ensure "Laminar Flow," preventing drafts while ensuring air reaches the floor level.
To save energy, we don't just throw away all the cooled air. We "return" a portion of it to the AHU to be re-filtered and re-cooled.
Return Grilles: These are positioned to pull out the warmest air (usually near the ceiling) to be processed.
Fresh Air Mixing: We ensure the return air is mixed with a calculated percentage of outdoor air to maintain oxygen levels.
We mechanically extract "stale" or contaminated air from specific sources.
Local Exhaust: Essential for toilets, pantries, and chemical zones to prevent odors from circulating into the main office.
Axial Flow Fans: Often used for high-volume relief in warehouses or plant rooms.
As a specialist, we utilize advanced technologies to make circulation "smart":
Building Pressure Management:
We calibrate the circulation so the building remains at a slight Positive Pressure. This creates a "shield" that prevents dust and humidity from leaking in through the building envelope.
Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Modulation:
We install VFDs on the main fans. If Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Sensors detect low occupancy, the VFD slows the circulation to save energy; when the room fills up, it ramps up to maintain the Air Change Rate (ACR).
Energy Recovery (ERV):
In modern KL offices, we use Energy Recovery Ventilation Systems to "capture" the coolness of the air being exhausted and use it to pre-cool the incoming fresh air.
| Symptom | Probable M&E Cause | EKG M&E Solution |
| Hot and Cold Spots | Poor Diffuser Balancing. | Airflow Balancing and Commissioning. |
| Stuffy/Lethargic Staff | Low Fresh Air / High CO2. | CO2 Sensor and VFD Integration. |
| Whistling Doors | Unbalanced Pressure. | Intake and Exhaust Re-balancing. |
| Musty Odors | Poor Return Air Flow. | Duct Audit and Fan Health Check. |
Airflow Balancing and Commissioning: We perform a professional Duct Traverse and Flow Hood audit. We provide a technical report proving that your facility's circulation meets ASHRAE 62.1 and local building codes.
Clean Air Specialist: We provide specialized Fresh Air Filtration Services (MERV 13 / HEPA) to ensure the air being circulated is free from PM2.5 and urban pollutants.
Klang Valley Strategic Support: Based in Kuala Lumpur, we provide turnkey design, installation, and maintenance for corporate headquarters, industrial warehouses, and healthcare facilities.
