Description
Is TOTAL30™ for ASTIGMATISM the Best Monthly Lens for Dry Eyes in Malaysia?
If you have astigmatism and find that your current monthly contact lenses feel "scratchy" or blurry by 4 PM, you are not alone. Most toric lenses for astigmatism are thicker than standard lenses to stay stable, which often leads to dryness.
Alcon’s TOTAL30™ for ASTIGMATISM was designed specifically to solve this "end-of-day discomfort" while ensuring your vision doesn't blur every time you blink.
Why It’s Different: Water Gradient Technology
Unlike traditional lenses that have the same water content throughout, TOTAL30 uses Water Gradient Technology.
-
The Core: Has 55% water for high oxygen breathability.
-
The Surface: Reaches nearly 100% water.
-
The Result: Your eyelid touches only a cushion of moisture, not the lens material itself. It feels like wearing nothing, even on day 30.
Precision Balance 8|4®: No More "Blinking into Focus"
The biggest frustration for astigmatism patients is the lens rotating. If the lens moves, your vision gets blurry. TOTAL30 uses the PRECISION BALANCE 8|4® design:
-
The lens is weighted at the 8 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions.
-
This minimizes interaction with your lower eyelid.
-
The lens settles in about 60 seconds and stays stable even during active movement or heavy screen use.
FAQ
1. Can I sleep in TOTAL30 for Astigmatism lenses?
No. These are daily wear, monthly replacement lenses. You must remove, clean, and store them in solution every night. They are not approved for overnight wear.
2. Why do these lenses feel "slippery" when I try to take them off?
Because the surface is nearly 100% water, they are very slick.
Pro-tip: Ensure your fingers are completely dry before attempting to remove them. A dry grip makes removal much easier.
3. I have high astigmatism; will TOTAL30 work for me?
TOTAL30 for Astigmatism covers a wide range of prescriptions (up to -2.25 cylinder).
4. Why is the astigmatism version more expensive than the regular TOTAL30?
The manufacturing of a Toric (astigmatism) lens is much more complex. It requires precise weight distribution to prevent rotation, whereas a standard lens is uniform all around.
