Chery Malaysia Proves Battery Safety with Live Fire Test in First Safety Challenge

Chery Malaysia has reinforced its commitment to vehicle safety by organising its first-ever Battery Safety Challenge in Malaysia, witnessed by over 100 media representatives and government officials to ensure transparency and credibility.

The highlight of the event was a live high-temperature fire test involving the battery systems used in the Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV and Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV. The battery was subjected to direct flame exposure for 1 minute and 20 seconds, simulating extreme real-world conditions.

Despite the intense heat, the battery remained stable throughout the test, with no fire escalation, no electrical failure, and no uncontrolled deformation, clearly demonstrating a high level of safety and engineering reliability.

In addition to the successful test, Chery Malaysia also highlighted the strong safety credentials of its electrified lineup. The Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV has achieved a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating with an impressive score of 94.68 points, along with a double perfect score in both Adult Occupant Protection and Safety Assist, setting a strong benchmark among plug-in hybrid vehicles.

To further enhance customer confidence, Chery Malaysia provides a comprehensive battery warranty of up to 10 years or 200,000 kilometres, covering key components such as the battery pack, drive motor, and vehicle control unit.

Overall, this Safety Challenge highlights Chery’s focus on real-world safety validation, transparency, and long-term ownership assurance, strengthening trust in its plug-in hybrid technology.
