Electrode Redrying: Always re-dry electrodes at 300–350°C for 30–60 minutes before use to maintain low-hydrogen integrity.
Crater Treatment: Terminate the crater on the groove face (not in the root) to prevent crater cracking.
Keyhole Technique: During bead joining, expose the arc into the keyhole to ensure 100% fusion before moving forward.
Joint Preparation: Ensure consistent root gaps and use a wind screen when welding in outdoor environments to maintain gas shielding.

What is the difference between LB-52 and LB-52U? While both are E7016 low-hydrogen electrodes, the LB-52U is specifically optimized for root pass "Uranami" welding from one side, offering a more stable arc at lower currents compared to the standard LB-52.
Can I use LB-52U for vertical-up welding? Yes. LB-52U is excellent for vertical-up positions, especially in pipe welding where a consistent internal root bead is required.
Why is my LB-52U cracking at the crater? Crater cracking usually occurs if the arc is terminated directly in the root. Always turn the arc onto the groove face before finishing the bead to prevent this issue.
