Solar Rebate Initiative (SuRIA Home): Complete 2026 Guide to Claim Up to RM3,000 Government Solar Rebate in Malaysia

Solar Rebate Initiative (SuRIA Home): Complete 2026 Guide to Claim Up to RM3,000 Government Solar Rebate in Malaysia

Malaysia homeowners now have a golden opportunity to reduce electricity bills and switch to clean energy through the Sustainable Rebate & Incentive Assistance (SuRIA) Home Programme. This government initiative offers a cash rebate of up to RM3,000 for eligible households that install rooftop solar systems under the Solar ATAP programme.

At Solar Sunyield Sdn Bhd, we're excited to help homeowners maximize this incentive while enjoying long-term energy savings.

What is SuRIA Home?

SuRIA Home (Sustainable Rebate & Incentive Assistance Home) is a Malaysian Government initiative designed to encourage residential solar adoption by providing direct cash rebates to eligible homeowners. The programme aims to:

✅ Reduce household electricity expenses

✅ Promote renewable energy adoption

✅ Support Malaysia's target of achieving 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050

✅ Accelerate the country's energy transition agenda

Eligible homeowners can receive a cash rebate of RM600 per kWac installed, up to a maximum of RM3,000.

Additional Savings from Solar Sunyield

Besides the Government Rebate of up to RM3,000, Solar Sunyield is also offering:

🎁 Additional Discount Up to RM3,000

This means homeowners may enjoy:

  • Government Rebate: Up to RM3,000
  • Solar Sunyield Additional Discount: Up to RM3,000

Total Potential Savings: Up to RM6,000

Who is Eligible for SuRIA Home?

You may qualify for the SuRIA Home rebate if you meet ALL the following criteria:

Eligibility Requirements

✔ Malaysian Citizen

✔ TNB Residential (Domestic Tariff) Customer

✔ Solar ATAP system successfully commissioned by TNB before 31 December 2026

✔ Have not previously received a rebate under the SolaRIS programme

✔ Individual customer (companies are not eligible)

Important: Each customer is entitled to only one rebate claim.

How Much Rebate Can You Receive?

The rebate amount depends on your solar system's Declared Installed Capacity (kWac).

Solar Capacity (kWac) Rebate Amount
1.0 kWac RM600
2.5 kWac RM1,500
4.0 kWac RM2,400
5.0 kWac or above RM3,000 (Maximum)

The formula is simple:

RM600 × Installed kWac = Rebate Amount

Maximum rebate capped at RM3,000.

Example Rebate Calculation

Example 1

Solar System Size: 2.5 kWac

Rebate:

RM600 × 2.5 = RM1,500

Example 2

Solar System Size: 5.0 kWac

Rebate:

RM600 × 5.0 = RM3,000

Maximum rebate reached.

When Will You Receive the Rebate?

Eligible customers will receive notifications through their TNB-registered email address beginning from 1 June 2026 onwards.

After submitting and verifying bank account information:

💰 Rebate payment will be transferred within seven (7) working days, subject to bank processing timelines.

What If I Installed Solar Before 1 June 2026?

Good news!

If your Solar ATAP system is successfully commissioned by TNB before 31 December 2026, you remain eligible for the SuRIA Home rebate, even if your installation was completed before 1 June 2026.

Can I Claim for Multiple Houses?

Unfortunately, no.

Even if you own multiple properties with solar systems installed, the SuRIA Home programme only allows:

✅ One rebate per customer

The rebate will apply to the first Solar ATAP installation successfully commissioned under your name.

What Happens If I Buy a House with Existing Solar Panels?

If the previous homeowner has already claimed the SuRIA Home rebate for that solar installation, the new owner will not be eligible to claim again.

This is because the rebate is tied to the system's first commissioning.

Can I Get Another Rebate After Expanding My Solar System?

No.

If you've already received a rebate for your initial installation, additional solar panels or future capacity upgrades will not qualify for another SuRIA Home rebate.

However, your expanded solar system will continue generating additional electricity savings for many years.

When Does the SuRIA Home Programme End?

The programme will end when either:

  • The RM150 million rebate allocation is fully utilized, OR
  • 31 December 2026 is reached

whichever comes first.

Because the programme follows a First-Come, First-Served basis, early application is strongly encouraged.

Didn't Receive Your SuRIA Home Email?

Eligible customers will be notified through their TNB-registered email after receiving their Solar ATAP Welcome Letter.

Before contacting support, remember to:

✔ Check your Inbox

✔ Check your Spam/Junk Folder

✔ Verify your registered email with TNB

❌ Personal details do not match the TNB account holder information

Note: Joint accounts are allowed if the TNB account holder is the principal account holder.
