Last week, our lab carried out a Climatic Chamber Exposure Test to evaluate the durability of an adhesive tape under elevated temperature and humidity conditions.
Test Conditions:
🌡️ Temperature: 85°C
💧 Relative Humidity: 85% RH
⏱️ Duration: 192 hours (8 days)
🧪 Sample: Tape bonded to a metal panel
The purpose of this conditioning test is to simulate a demanding environment and observe how the adhesive system performs over time.
Following the exposure, a visual inspection was conducted to compare the sample before and after conditioning. During the inspection, bubbles were observed beneath the tape, indicating that the elevated temperature and humidity had affected the adhesive-to-substrate interface.
The next step is Peel Testing, where the tape will be removed from the panel to measure its adhesion strength after environmental conditioning. This helps assess how well the adhesive maintains its bonding performance after prolonged exposure to heat and moisture.
Environmental conditioning combined with mechanical testing provides valuable insights into the long-term reliability and performance of adhesive materials in real-world applications.
