Overview – What Happen in June 2026
• What is the Legal Deadline for Salary Payment?


In Malaysia, under Section 19 of the Employment Act 1955, employers are legally required to pay your basic salary and other cash payments no later than the 7th day after the last day of the wage period.

• Malaysia to issue newly designed passports with 94 security features from June Malaysia will begin issuing newly redesigned passports starting 1 June 2026. The new passports will feature 94 security features to enhance security and reduce the risk of forgery.
The additional security features include:

• Holograms
• UV (ultraviolet) printing
• Special security threads on passport pages


• New 24-hour protection scheme by SOCSO starting June 2026.
LINDUNG 24 Jam is introduced to provide round-the-clock protection for eligible employees
throughout their employment period, including coverage for accidents that occur outside
working hours and are not directly related to their job or duties.


• Revised Employment Pass (EP) Salary Policy – Effective 1 June 2026
All new and renewal Employment Pass applications submitted on or after 1 June 2026 shall
comply with the revised requirements. Companies are strongly encouraged to plan in advance
and align their workforce strategies accordingly.


New-generation MyKad starting June 1, 2026

Malaysia is introducing a new-generation MyKad starting June 1, 2026, featuring 53 security elements—a significant jump from the current 23—including QR-based verification to curb forgery. This sixth-generation, high-security IC marks the first major overhaul since 2012, enhancing digital security and aligning with modern technology.
