3Wire RS2MQTTx is a compact industrial-grade 4G IoT gateway designed to connect RS-485 field devices such as power meters, PLCs, sensors and controllers to cloud-based IoT platforms.
As a streamlined version of the RS2MQTT series, RS2MQTTx provides essential RS-485 to cloud connectivity in a smaller DIN rail form factor. It is suitable for space-constrained panels, cost-sensitive projects, remote metering points and distributed energy monitoring applications.
For IoTWatt 4.0 projects, RS2MQTTx provides a practical cellular data collection layer where LAN or WiFi is not available. It supports MQTT and HTTP POST transmission over 2G / 4G networks with internal cache memory and watchdog operation for more reliable field deployment.
Many industrial and commercial sites need to collect data from RS-485 devices, but do not have reliable LAN or WiFi access at every metering point. This is common for remote panels, branch sites, small substations, pump rooms, outdoor panels and distributed assets.
RS2MQTTx solves this by using 2G / 4G mobile network connectivity to send RS-485 device data directly to cloud platforms. Its compact DIN rail form factor makes it suitable for panels where space and cost must be carefully managed.
RS2MQTTx is best positioned as a compact 4G IoT gateway for RS-485 meter data collection, remote energy monitoring, small-panel IoT deployment and IoTWatt 4.0 retrofit connectivity projects.
IoTWatt 4.0 depends on reliable meter and equipment data. RS2MQTTx enables remote RS-485 devices to send data to the platform without requiring site LAN or WiFi infrastructure.
Includes one RS-485 serial port using a 3.5mm terminal block with 485A, 485B and GND signal lines.
Supports GPRS / LTE communication for cloud data transmission without fixed LAN dependency.
Suitable for IoT platforms and brokers that use MQTT for lightweight telemetry data transfer.
Can transmit collected device data to cloud systems using HTTP POST where required.
Stores up to 800 data records to help protect data continuity during temporary network outages.
Watchdog operation supports stable and continuous gateway performance in field applications.
Uses Micro SIM card format with 3V / 1.8V support. Nano SIM is not supported.
Suitable for 35mm DIN rail installation in electrical panels and compact industrial enclosures.
Includes a push-button reset function for one-touch factory reset when required.
SYS, WORK, 4G LINK, TCP LINK, TXD and RXD indicators support local operation status checking during commissioning and troubleshooting.
Uses a 50Ω SMA Female antenna interface and supports stick antenna or suction cup antenna. Default antenna type is suction cup.
Power is connected through a 3.5mm terminal input, making it suitable for panel-based installation.
Designed as a smaller and streamlined version of the RS2MQTT series for space-constrained deployment.
Uses flame-retardant alloy plastic enclosure material for practical industrial and commercial panel use.
Device configuration and polling intervals can be managed through the serial interface.
