KUALA LUMPUR (June 19): Menara Merdeka 118, Malaysia’s iconic landmark skyscraper, has achieved international recognition after securing two World Gold awards in the Office and Sustainable Development categories at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2026.
According to PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd, the awards acknowledge Menara Merdeka 118 as one of the world's most outstanding property developments, recognising its excellence in design, functionality, sustainability and overall contribution to the built environment.
The international achievement follows the tower’s success at the FIABCI Malaysia Property Awards 2025, where it received top honours in the same categories before advancing to the global stage.
PNB Merdeka Ventures chief executive officer Datuk Izwan Ibrahim described the recognition as a testament to the project’s vision of combining Malaysia’s heritage and history with innovation and future-focused urban development. He added that the awards reflect the company’s commitment to excellence, sustainability and the creation of world-class developments that contribute to national pride.
Standing at 678.9 metres, Menara Merdeka 118 is currently the tallest building in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, as well as the second-tallest building in the world. The tower serves as the centrepiece of the 40-acre Merdeka 118 integrated development located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
Beyond its impressive height, the development has gained international attention for its sustainability initiatives, heritage-inspired placemaking strategy and long-term vision of creating a modern urban destination that integrates commercial, lifestyle and community elements.
