2026 Toyota Yaris Cross Receives 2,298 Bookings Within Two Weeks

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has announced that the newly launched 2026 Toyota Yaris Cross has garnered 2,298 bookings within just two weeks of its debut in Malaysia on May 8, 2026. The strong response highlights growing interest in the B-segment SUV, which is locally assembled at Toyota’s Bukit Raja plant alongside the Vios Hybrid.

The Toyota Yaris Cross is offered in two variants for the Malaysian market. The entry-level 1.5S is priced at RM99,900 (on-the-road without insurance) and is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 2NR-VE petrol engine producing 106 PS and 138 Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Meanwhile, the range-topping 1.5S HEV hybrid variant is priced at RM109,900. It features a 1.5-litre 2NR-VEX Atkinson-cycle engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined system output of 111 PS. The hybrid model is equipped with an e-CVT transmission and also drives the front wheels.

In terms of safety, both variants come standard with six airbags and Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), which includes features such as pre-collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane keeping assist, front departure alert, and automatic high beam.

The hybrid variant further distinguishes itself with additional premium features including illuminated scuff plates, front footwell lighting, and a wireless phone charger as standard equipment. The petrol-only variant, however, includes paddle shifters for manual gear simulation through the CVT, while its leather seats come without perforation unlike those found in the hybrid model.
