Toyota Urban Cruiser EV 2026 Debuts in Malaysia at RM198,000

UMW Toyota Motor has officially introduced the 2026 Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, expanding its growing electric vehicle (EV) lineup alongside models like the bZ4X and Hilux BEV. The new electric SUV is offered in a single variant and is fully imported (CBU) from Indonesia, with a starting price of RM198,000 (on-the-road, without insurance).

Positioned in the highly competitive B-segment SUV category, the Urban Cruiser EV measures 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. This places it in a similar size range as popular models such as the Honda HR-V and Proton X50. The model also shares its platform with the Suzuki e Vitara, making them closely related in terms of engineering.

In terms of design, the Urban Cruiser EV adopts a rugged yet sporty appearance, reflecting Toyota’s latest styling direction. At the front, it features the brand’s signature hammerhead design, a look also seen on models like the Toyota Camry and Toyota RAV4. Along the sides, bold wheel arches and 18-inch alloy wheels give the SUV a strong and purposeful stance. At the rear, a connected LED taillight design adds a modern touch, complemented by a shark fin antenna.

The Urban Cruiser EV comes well-equipped with a range of standard exterior features, including LED headlights, daytime running lights (DRL), auto-levelling headlights, LED taillights, and welcome home lamps. It also offers a panoramic glass roof, enhancing the overall premium feel of the vehicle.

Customers can choose from four exterior colour options: Pearl Arctic White, Land Breeze Green, Grandeur Grey, and Pearl Bluish Black.

With its competitive positioning, modern design, and practical SUV proportions, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is set to strengthen Toyota’s presence in Malaysia’s fast-growing EV market, particularly in the popular compact SUV segment.
