UMW Toyota Motor has officially opened bookings for the Toyota Yaris Cross in Malaysia, indicating that the highly anticipated compact SUV is nearing its official launch. The model, positioned as a close sibling to the Perodua Traz, will be offered in two variants for the local market.
Estimated pricing starts from RM99,900 for the 1.5S, while the Hybrid variant is expected to begin at RM109,900, giving buyers an option between a conventional petrol setup and a more fuel-efficient electrified alternative.
Both variants are set to come with a strong list of standard features, including a 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Advanced driver assistance features such as Adaptive Cruise Control and Adaptive High Beam are also included, adding to its appeal in the segment.
The hybrid version further stands out with a wireless phone charger included as standard, while petrol buyers can opt for the feature at an additional cost. A rear digital video recorder is also available as an optional add-on for both variants. In terms of styling, customers can choose from five exterior colours, with a premium finish available at an extra charge.
While official Malaysian specifications have yet to be fully confirmed, the model is expected to follow the ASEAN-market setup, likely featuring a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT, alongside a hybrid system option for improved efficiency.
From an ownership standpoint, the Yaris Cross will come with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, while the hybrid battery is covered for eight years, with an option to extend up to ten years for additional peace of mind.
With bookings now open and competitive estimated pricing revealed, the Toyota Yaris Cross is shaping up to be a strong contender in Malaysia’s compact SUV segment, especially for buyers looking for modern features and a hybrid option at an accessible price point.
