Chery Tiggo 9 Now Open For Registration In Malaysia

Chery Malaysia has officially opened registrations of interest for the all-new Chery Tiggo 9, giving Malaysians an early look at what will become the company’s new flagship SUV in the local market. The upcoming model is positioned as a premium family SUV and is expected to strengthen Chery’s growing SUV lineup in Malaysia. Interested customers can now register their interest through Chery Malaysia’s official website ahead of its launch.

The Chery Tiggo 9 shares its underpinnings with the Jaecoo J8 and Omoda C9, and will feature a 7-seater layout with a 2+3+2 seating configuration. Chery is targeting buyers looking for a more premium and spacious SUV, with the Tiggo 9 set to sit at the top of the brand’s range in Malaysia.

For the Malaysian market, Chery has confirmed that the SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine paired with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. In China, the same powertrain produces 254 hp and 390 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The setup is expected to deliver a balance of performance and comfort suitable for both city and long-distance driving.

In overseas markets, the Tiggo 9 is also offered with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant. The electrified version combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged hybrid engine with dual electric motors, producing a combined output of 381 hp and 610 Nm. Depending on the battery pack selected, the SUV can achieve up to 160 km of pure electric driving range, while the total combined driving range is claimed to exceed 1,400 km. Fast charging capability is also included, allowing the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in around 25 minutes.

Chery is also loading the Tiggo 9 with a long list of premium equipment and advanced technology features. Highlights include a 15.6-inch infotainment display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset, a heads-up display (HUD), 20-inch alloy wheels, and powered front seats with ventilation and massage functions. Second-row passengers will also receive ventilated and massage seats, adding to the SUV’s luxury-focused appeal.

The SUV will further feature a 14-speaker Sony sound system with integrated headrest speakers, alongside a suite of 23 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) aimed at improving safety and driving convenience. Multiple drive modes will also be available to suit different road conditions and driving preferences.

The Chery Tiggo 9 is expected to be one of four new models planned by Chery Malaysia for launch in 2026, following the recent introduction of the Tiggo 8. With the Tiggo 9, Chery appears set to compete more aggressively in Malaysia’s growing premium SUV segment.
