SuRIA Home – Up to RM3,000 Solar Rebate Program, giving you a quick overview of all the details you need to know!

What is SuRIA Home?

SuRIA Home is a government-led residential solar rebate program designed to encourage households to install rooftop solar PV systems. The goal is to help reduce electricity bills while promoting the use of clean and renewable energy.

Eligible users who complete their Solar ATAP system installation and successfully commission the system may receive a cash rebate of up to RM3,000.

This program is also part of Malaysia’s national energy transition plan, aiming to gradually increase the share of renewable energy in the country’s power generation mix.

Who is eligible to apply?

You are eligible if you meet the following conditions:

  • TNB residential tariff user (household customers only, not companies)
  • Malaysian citizen
  • Solar ATAP system installed and successfully commissioned by 31 December 2026
  • Have not previously received the SolaRIS rebate

⚠️ Each user is only entitled to apply once.

How much rebate can I get?

The rebate is calculated based on your system capacity:

👉 RM600 per 1 kWac
👉 Maximum rebate: RM3,000

Example:

  • 2.5 kWac → RM1,500
  • 5.0 kWac → RM3,000 (maximum cap)

The larger the system, the higher the rebate, up to the maximum limit of RM3,000.

When will I receive the rebate?

Starting from 1 June 2026, TNB will notify eligible users in stages to submit their banking details.

After verification:

  • The rebate will be credited within approximately 7 working days
  • Actual bank processing time may vary

⚠️ The bank account must be under the same name as the TNB registered account holder.

If I install now, am I still eligible?

Yes, but act fast.

As long as your Solar ATAP system is successfully commissioned by 31 December 2026, you are still eligible.

However, this is a first-come, first-served program, and the quota may be fully utilized early.

How many times can a user claim?

Only once.

Even if you own multiple properties or systems, only the first successfully commissioned system will qualify.

What if I buy a house with an existing solar system?

If the previous owner has already claimed the rebate, you will not be eligible to claim again.

This is because the rebate is tied to the first commissioning of the system.

Can I get additional rebate if I expand my system?

No.

Any future system upgrades or capacity expansion will not qualify for additional rebate.

However, the additional solar capacity will still help you reduce your electricity bills.

Why is this program introduced?

In simple terms, the program aims to:

  • Help households reduce electricity costs
  • Encourage the adoption of solar energy
  • Support Malaysia’s renewable energy and sustainability goals
